Empty Nest?

Our little Emily started pre-school at the village playgroup today. It is for children ages 2-4 with a curriculum designed to transition them into Reception (kindergarten) when they are 4 years old. Emily is attending on Tuesdays and Thursdays until her birthday in December and then she can go every day of the week (for free since the government funds pre-school once a child is 3 years old). Hours are from 9:15-12:15 each morning, so we can deposit Amy at the primary school and then walk down the street to the pre-school building. As you can see from her post-first day interview, she has a cute little red uniform shirt to wear and she seems to enjoy the playgroup.

Emily cried a bit when I was leaving and I felt somewhat relieved that she was upset... but then we discovered she was only crying because there weren't any spots left at the play-doh table. So a teacher got her settled at a computer station and she was fine. Waved goodbye and didn't look back.

So now with both children in school (at least part of the time), Matthew's redundant tag line when he leaves for work: "Oh and honey, if you get bored today, you could..." might actually be something I will consider.
