I am often telling my children "Don't do (fill in the blank) or you'll fall on your face." Yesterday my prophecy came true, unfortunately...
Amy had a tumble in the school yard and, in fact, fell on her cute little face. You can see the damage was pretty severe! The poor darling had seen Mum enter the school gates and gave a big smile... then tripped as she ran for a hug. She probably wouldn't have landed on her face if she hadn't been carrying her book bag, lunch box and water bottle. Of course there was a lot of blood at first, and Mrs. Stevens (Amy's teacher) thought she had knocked a tooth loose. Fortunately, all her teeth are in tact but she did bite a big hole in her upper lip (inside). Today the swelling is down and it seems that she will heal up just fine... although it is a reminder to get set up with a new dentist!
Mum remained calm and collected through it all and only cried about how sad it was after Amy was in bed. Amy is currently accepting any and all gestures of comfort and consolation.
poor girl.... hope she is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteSweet Amy,
ReplyDeleteWe're so sorry about your scary accident in the school yard. Boy do we know about scary happenings with our faces! Sadie actually knocked out her left front tooth while she was jumping on the bed. This was after we had repeatedly told her to 'not jump on the bed.' We hope you get feeling better soon. Just think, it could've been worse: you could've knocked your teeth out too!
By the way,
ReplyDeleteLana you are much braver than I. I tried to hold my emotions from her seeing me cry, but we have cried together multiple times this past two weeks. I hope I haven't done her damage by letting her see me cry . . .sometimes it's hard to always be the brave one though, isn't it?!
