Quick Trip to Chicago

Finally, after many months of applications being over-nighted across the Atlantic, a 10-day visit to the States in May, a biometrics appointment re-scheduled and one missed (thank to an incompetent Caterpillar attorney in Peoria)... I actually finished up the process for my greencard re-entry permit! This means that, if approved, I will one day be allowed to legally reside in the USA again. Aren't you so proud?

But, of course, this whole ordeal couldn't be complete without my personal appearance at a US immigration facility in Naperville, IL. So I had to make a quick trip to Chicago this past week - flying out of London Tuesday afternoon and coming back Wednesday evening.

So what could possibly be redemptive about two overseas flights and driving in rush hour in London and Chicago... all within 48 hours? Well, seeing an old buddy of mine, of course. Claudia and I became friends during middle school when I moved to Pennsylvania in the 7th grade. Long story short - we became good pals and have kept in touch over the years as we've both moved all over the world. The last time I saw Claud was 9 years ago at my wedding when she was one of my bridesmaids.

Whilst in the States, I also took the opportunity to enjoy another old favorite of mine: the Peanut Buster Parfait a la Dairy Queen.
So with those two lovely reconnections - and, I suppose, finally getting those darn fingerprints done - it made my quick trip across the pond well worth it!
P.S. - I'm very tired.

  1. You must be exhausted! That is a lot of flying. But we're glad that maybe someday you could live in the states again.

  2. All I have to say is that I'm jealous of Claudia. :(
