Sept. 3: a momentus day in the Dobberfuhl family: Amy began Year 1 (1st grade) at the Glinton village Primary School. Surprisingly it wasn't too difficult for me to send her off to school full-time. Maybe it's because we skipped the kindergarten year and went right into the first grade - the children in her class were already seasoned veterans and not too many were crying for their "mummy." I can't get over how darling all the children look in their uniforms. Pictured above: Amy sporting the English school girl look:
This was just too cute to pass up - Amy and her new friend, Yi Xuen, holding hands and walking to school together. They are both in Mrs. Stevens Year 1 class. This is also a nice view of how beautiful the village is - you can see the spire from the village church in the distance. Amy and Emily call it the "golden rooster church" because it has a golden rooster weathervane on top.
Here is Amy on the footpath home from school showing me her officially licensed Glinton Primary School book bag. Each day she has a book to read for homework and occasionally she has a writing assignment or spelling words to practise (yes, in the UK 'practise' is spelled with an 's' - see, even I am learning something!)
So cute! Tell Amy Auntie Lindy is proud of her. Keep posting lots of pictures!
ReplyDeleteShe looks so insanely grown up ... it's killing me! And I love the uniform. She looks adorable. I'm glad to hear that she is adjusting well and liking school. How is Emily without Amy around all day? Thanks for all the pics and posts. It's great to keep up with you guys.
