Warwick Castle

We worked off the morning's chocolate indulgence at Cadbury World by climbing the 530 stairs up to the northwest tower at Warwick Castle. It was a slow, steep climb up the dark stairs but the view was well worth it.
We also enjoyed touring the inside of Warwick castle. Of particular interest to us was the weaponry room full of all kinds of medieval tools and armour.
Perhaps the highlight of our time at Warwick was watching a real-life demonstration of the trebuchet. A 15-kilo flaming projectile was fired downstream (see video below). Below is Emily with the trebuchet in the background. The resident medieval weaponry expert explained that the most notable use of the trebuchet was possibly when the English fired over 1500 loads of manure on the French city of LaRochelle... they figure that would have piled up to be about thigh-high for those Frenchies!
