Amy & Emily are huge fans of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so when we took them to visit England's real chocolate factory this past Saturday, they were all smiles. "Cadbury World" is located in Bournville, a suburb of Birmingham, which is about a two-hour drive from our home near Peterborough. We started the tour with a ride through a fantasy cocoa bean world. We found it curiously similar to Disney's "Small World" ride... except we rode in purple cars and watched mechanical cocoa beans sing at us.

Next we tried our hand at cooling the chocolate on a giant marble slab and Amy got to write her name in chocolate.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the tour was actually seeing the chocolate production in action. The combination of workers and large machines tirelessly cooking, moulding, and packaging tons of chocolate every minute was fascinating! The only disappointment was not seeing any real oompa-loompas.

And for those of you who remember visiting Cadbury World with me nearly 9 years ago... some things have changed: there is now a new exhibit called "Cadbury Essence" where we got to create our own chocolate creation using melted milk chocolate and our choice of mix-in. Matt chose rice krispies, Amy chose "jellies" (jujubes), Emily chose marshmallows and I chose biscuits (cookie pieces). YUMMY!
Looks like you had a great time...Love the scarf...looks great on you!
