Lincoln

We spent all day Thursday in the city of Lincoln which is about a 90-minute drive north of our home in Peterborough. Lincoln boasts this large, magnificent cathedral as well as a castle that is home to one of the original Magna Carta documents... unfortunately for us, the Magna Carta was on display in - guess where? - America! So we got to see a nice replica instead. Lincoln Cathedral: view from atop the Castle wall.

Downtown Lincoln.

Down we go... into the Castle dungeon!

Climbing up the "Lucy Tower."

Lincoln has a very picturesque downtown, complete with what Emily calls "a people road..." meaning the street is only for pedestrians. We managed to find two Chocolatiers on this row of shops, both of which we visited at length.

Emily really enjoyed her Belgian chocolate lolly. This photo also exemplifies the English tradition of having brightly coloured doors.
